Holy Heart Trebles Choir is an inclusive SSA choir from Holy Heart High School. This choir meets once a week during the lunch hour (Mondays) and performs a variety of styles and genres. The choir performs regularly at school concerts, music festivals, and community events and in 2024 was the St John's Music Festival Rosebowl winner and was nominated to perform at the National Music Festival. The choir is open to all Holy Heart students who enjoy singing SSA repertiore. The choir is a course- Ensemble Performance 1105,2105 or 3105.
Holy Heart Low Notes Choir is a non-auditioned TTBB choir at Holy Heart High School in St. John’s, NL. This choir meets once per week during the lunch hour (Wednesday) to share in making music in a variety of genres. As one of 3 choral ensembles at the school, the Low Notes perform regularly at school concerts, festivals, community functions, and have been featured on CBC radio, The Telegram and enjoys collaborating with other TTBB choirs in the province. Past accomplishments include winning the St. John’s Kiwanis Rosebowl and placing 1st place at the National Association of Music Festivals in 2019. Students receive credit for Ensemble Performance 1105, 2105 or 3105 for singing in this choir.
The Holy Heart Chamber Choir is an auditioned SATB ensemble composed of students aged 15–18 from Holy Heart of Mary High School in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Known for their exceptional musicianship and vibrant energy, the choir brings together young singers who share a deep passion for choral music, collaboration, and performance.
Directed by Robert Colbourne, the choir has built an impressive reputation for artistic excellence across a wide-ranging repertoire that includes classical, folk, contemporary pieces, and Canadian compositions. Their performances are marked by precision, expressive depth, and a strong sense of ensemble.
The Holy Heart Chamber Choir has achieved significant national recognition, including being a four-time winner of the CBC Music Class Challenge. They have also earned first place multiple times at the National Music Festival of Canada and were named “Canada’s Top Choir” in the inaugural Feelitlive Virtual Choir Competition. Their engaging and creative music videos have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, further expanding their reach and impact.
The choir has been featured at Podium National Choral Conference in both Montreal and St. John’s, highlighting their status as one of Canada’s leading youth choirs. Their touring history is equally impressive, with performances across Canada, and internationally in Greece, New Orleans, Hawaii, and Ireland, with an upcoming tour to Spain.
Despite these accomplishments, the foundation of the Holy Heart Chamber Choir lies in its strong sense of community. Built on a shared love of singing, friendship, and joy, the ensemble fosters an environment where students grow musically and personally. Their passion, dedication, and camaraderie continue to define the choir and inspire audiences wherever they perform.
